Access

The entrance at Merrion Square entrance is now closed to facilitate ongoing refurbishment of the Dargan and Milltown Wings. Visitors are directed to access the Gallery via the Millennium Wing at Clare Street. See Opening Hours & Directions.

Masterpieces of the Collection

The Gallery is committed to keeping highlights of the collection on display during the course of the refurbishment. Now on view in the Millennium Wing and Beit Wing (rooms 1-10) is a special presentation of some of the Gallery’s finest works of European art from the early Renaissance through to the mid-twentieth century. Also included in the display is a selection of key Irish paintings which chart the development of Irish art from the eighteenth century onwards. Highlights of the Gallery’s prints and drawings collection (room 1), includes works by Frederic William Burton, Edgar Degas and Jean-Antoine Watteau. Paintings by Jack B. Yeats are on view in the Yeats corridor in rooms 1-5. 
The Gallery Shop, Café and Restaurant are open for business as usual in the Millennium Wing.

Website & Online Collections

While there will be impact on the physical access to some areas of the Gallery during refurbishment, there will be more online access to the Gallery’s collections than ever before with images and information on over 1,800 works of art. The Gallery’s Library & Archives will also have an online presence and will provide access to over 40,000 records and publications relating to art with images and information pertaining to key Irish artists and the institution’s historical archive.
