Weekly Tours and Lectures
Free weekly and monthly tours and lectures are available to Friends. Tour and lecture topics focus on works within the National Gallery of Ireland collections. Friends meet at the Friends Desk in the Millennium Wing and can enjoy tea and coffee in the Friends Room after each event. See schedule here
Evening and Weekend Lectures
The Friends Events Programme includes evening and weekend lectures that take place in the Friends Rooms in No. 5 South Leinster Street. Topics are presented by artists and invited guests, and cover a range of subjects from the history of art and decorative arts, to topics of general interest. Evening lectures are followed by a wine reception in No. 5 and weekend lectures are preceded by morning coffee.
As part of the Friends Events Programme , Outings to sites of particular interest are organised. These generally take in historic sites relating to architecture, visual arts and the decorative arts. The Outings are led by tour guides and specialists in the areas of interest.
The annual Friends Trips abroad take place in the summer/ autumn. Destinations are to places of specific cultural interest to the Friends, and previous destinations have included Italy, Spain, Russia, Provence and Greece. Each trip is tailor-made, with a busy itinerary taking in all the local sites of historic and artistic interest. Friends travel by luxury coach and stay in 4* hotels with evening activities, making the trips an enjoyable and relaxing time.

Retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy the splendour of the Georgian Friends Rooms in No. 5, have a coffee, and browse the many art publications and magazines freely available for Friends. Access to the Friends Members Room is via the Friends Desk in the Millennium Wing from Monday to Friday 10.00am until 5.00pm.
