Modernism is usually associated with a period of experimentation when artists explored the function of art, the nature of materials and discovered new ways of seeing. A tendency towards abstraction characterized much of modern art. More recent art work has been called contemporary or post-modern art. This particular series of lectures will explore the subject of ‘modernism in Irish art’.
