James Stephens, the National Gallery of Ireland, and the 1916 Rising
During Easter week 1916m James Stephens, then Registrar of the National Gallery of Ireland, witnessed the fighting around St. Stephen’s Green and immediately published an account of his observations in 'The Insurrection in Dublin'. The exhibition will be based around this seminal chronicle of the Easter Rising.
