Forty Footer, 2021
Photograph; Unframed: 43 x 55 cm; Framed: 45 x 57 cm
‘I began documenting winter swimmers at the Forty Foot in 2006. Tim was one of the first swimmers I photographed. He encouraged me to take up swimming, and so began a now daily ritual. As my body aged and I became newly sober, swimming in the cold sea has become my replacement addiction – swimming has saved me. I now live nearby, and for many
years did not see Tim. Then, last November, he returned. I took this picture as he emerged from the sea.’
