Me in the Mirror III: Faux Hat, 2019
Oil on linen, 61 x 46 cm
‘I placed an easel by the window and put a piece of mirror on it. Staring into the mirror, I saw a woman smiling with a faux hat on her head, a present from a friend. I brought out an old canvas and put it on my lap. Staring into the mirror, I could no longer find the woman with the smile.
I saw a strange woman staring back at me. I started to paint her and she painted me.’
