Join us as we celebrate on Friday 20 September!

We're excited to be joining in the fun of Culture Night again this year with a wide range of family-friendly activities throughout the Gallery.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore our collection via free tours throughout the night, and we'll have free admission to our Women Impressionists exhibition from 5pm-7.45pm. Tickets for these timeslots will be released a week before Culture Night - follow us on our social media channels to find out when. The French connection will be further celebrated with the return of our collaboration with the French Embassy, Painting Mirrors, when our historic façade will be lit up by an interactive digital display of portraits and landscapes submitted by the public in advance, and taken on the night in our special photo booth, all to the sounds of a DJ set by Emmy Shigeta.

Other highlights of Culture Night at the National Gallery of Ireland include a special pop-up Library & Archives display in our new Reading Room on level 3, a creative drop-in space, and a choral performance from the Voices of Bray Community Choir on our forecourt. We'll have Ireland’s favourite painting, The Meeting on the Turret Stairs, on display, too. The Gallery Café and Gallery Shop will be open until 8.30pm, and the 53.3 Degrees pop-up café in the Merrion Square forecourt will open until 9.30pm serving snacks.

Practical details: The Gallery will be open until 9pm on the night (last admission 8.30pm, room closures will begin from 8.40pm, and the Gallery Shop and Gallery Café will be open until 8pm). You'll be able to watch Painting Mirror on our Merrion Square building from 8pm - 11pm, and the 53.3 Degrees pop-up café in the Merrion Square forecourt will be open until 9pm serving snacks.
