Join us for an immersive weekend painting course!

National Galleries of Scotland’s Vaughan Bequest of J.M.W Turner’s Watercolours will go on display at the National Gallery of Ireland for the first time in January 2025. In conjunction with this unique exhibition, Michelle Boyle, a renowned contemporary artist, will lead a weekend painting course designed to delve into Turner's techniques. Participants will explore how Turner’s mastery of light, colour, and natural phenomena can be applied to their own work. The course will include:

  • Presentations and Demonstrations: Boyle will lead sessions focusing on how to capture light and incorporate colour and natural elements into a landscape painting.
  • Practical Experimentation: Attendees will have the opportunity to experiment with their own paintings, guided by Boyle’s expert instruction, using Turner's work as inspiration.

This immersive workshop will be an excellent opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of Turner's methods while developing their own artistic skills.

An exhibition co-organised by National Galleries of Scotland and The National Gallery of Ireland.

Turner’s Watercolours: Scotland’s Vaughan Bequest is proudly supported by Grant Thornton, Turner Exhibitions Partner.
