Join artist Antonio D'Souza for a unique Drawing the Collection workshop, where he takes inspiration from the works of Mainie Jellett and Evie Hone.

Using repurposed gasket heads as his medium, Antonio will share his unique approach to experimental drawing. Through a process of tracing, layering, and reinterpreting their shapes, you will have the opportunity to create dynamic compositions that challenge traditional drawing techniques and echoes the cubist works in the exhibition. Participants will gain insight into his creative process and explore new ways of seeing and responding to form, texture, and space.

First session will begin at 1pm and conclude at 2.15pm in exhibition rooms will the second session runs from 3.30pm to 4.45pm. The meeting point is the Education Studio. The price is €5 with a concession rate available for seniors and Friends. Participants must book in advance.

Antonio is a visual artist and a designer/maker living in Skerries, North Co Dublin. His primary interest is in repurposing everyday materials and mixed media that are often hidden from sight, deemed useless or taken for granted. His practice sees him exploring how these materials change and transform through physical handling. Antonio’s creative expression moves within his interests in geometry and organic matter: it is here that he allows his inner emotions and memories to dictate what manifest outwardly.

The sessions take place on the last Thursday of each month from 1pm to 2.15pm in the Galleries. The session is €5 per class with concession rate available for OAPs and Friends. Participants must book in advance.

  • Easiest access is via the Merrion Square entrance to the Gallery but ask any member of staff for directions.
  • Seating and materials are available for this event in the Gallery rooms.
