‘This is a mixed-media portrait made from various materials from book pages to shoe box cardboard to charcoal. It wasn’t anything in particular, it wasn’t a special moment or a significant picture, it was just me after school, something I decided to draw and develop. I wanted it to be as me as possible. Plain beauty in an everyday moment. It may not be meaningful to anyone else, it may not touch hearts, but it is my moment nonetheless. The moment the artist becomes the art.’
