‘For this piece I wanted to portray the struggles of parenthood through a portrait of my dad. He is depicted facing away from the viewer, creating a sense of distance felt as his child grows older. In the background, I used vibrant organic strokes, as well as colourful, jagged shapes to represent the ups and downs of parenthood. Despite the challenges they face, parents have a raw love for their child that overcomes all obstacles they encounter.’
