‘This drawing is of my grandfather in his travelling suit on a trip to Mallorca. The title I chose for the piece, Travel with Optimism, is my grandfather’s signature phrase or motto. Whether tickets are selling out, we are late for a flight, or caught in the rain, his advice to “Travel with optimism” rarely fails. This is what inspired me to draw his portrait in what I feel is his most typical demeanour.’
