This talk will consider how Mainie Jellett adapted the modernist styles she developed in Paris to her Irish audiences. It will also consider the continued relevance of Jellett’s work to Irish art and artists.

Dr Riann Coulter is an art historian and curator of the F.E. McWilliam Gallery & Studio, Banbridge. Her research focuses on identity in Irish art and she has curated and co-curated major exhibitions including Analysing Cubism: Mainie Jellett, Evie Hone, Mary Swanzy and masters of European Modernism (2013) and Hilary Heron: A Retrospective (2024).
