Finding Power / Alice Mary Higgins
Independent Senator
Joe says: Alice Mary believes that in relation to power nothing is ever really complete or done, and so some of the objects continue and weave out of frame. The shell is symbolic of Galway and the cloth is a weave from the Aran islands which is a nod to Frederic William Burton’s work. Also pictured on the plinth are a sheaf of papers connected to the constitution and a nod to her role in society.
Alice Mary says: I believe we should embrace complexity! Not as an intimidating thing for experts but as recognition that every action we each take has impacts that go much further. Change can start anywhere and send ripples that transform systems. I believe more fluid micro and macro perspectives, diverse and inclusive participation, and critical, creative thinking can all shape a better shared world.
