Join us for a lecture, by Curator of the Prints & Drawings Study Room Niamh MacNally, on the artist Margaret Clarke.

The lecture will feature a broad range of works by the artist across a wealth of media and subjects. It will look back at the Gallery’s immensely popular exhibition Margaret Clarke – An Independent Spirit, which generated a renewed interest in, and re-evaluation of, the artist’s life and art. Reconsidered as an artist in her own right, rather than the pupil of William Orpen or wife of Harry Clarke, the talk will highlight her importance within twentieth-century Irish Art, the causes she championed, her artist’s friends, and the exceptional skill she displayed  as an artist in the creation of many intriguing pictures.
