Perugino Restoration Project

The restoration of Perugino's The Lamentation over the Dead Christ.

Dating from the late 1490s, Perugino’s celebrated work was purchased by the National Gallery of Ireland in 1931 using the Lane Fund, and, in preparation for the re-opening of the Gallery’s historic building, underwent an extensive two year restoration by conservator Lucia Fabbro, which included scientific analysis and technical examination of materials and techniques.
