Gallery announces Thursday Lates Launch on Solstice
Kicking off on Summer Solstice, Thursday 21 June 2018, is the National Gallery of Ireland’s first ever Thursday Lates event. The evening's festivities, taking place from 4.30pm to 8.30pm, are part of a new series scheduled for selected Thursdays in 2018. Thursday Lates aims to provide a unique option for after-work evening entertainment in Dublin.
The programme will include food, drinks and lawn games in the forecourt of the Gallery’s Merrion Square entrance, as well as a special outdoor performance by the comedic contortionist duo Lords of Strut at 6pm, and live demonstrations by members of the talented Dublin Circus Project throughout the evening.
DJ Dermot Kelly will spin tunes in the Courtyard, where nail artists from Tropical Popical will create customised nail art inspired by the exhibition Circus250: Art of the Show. There will also be two guided tours (5.30pm and 6.30pm, meet at the Merrion Square entrance desk).
Thursday Lates will continue with themed events on select Thursdays, featuring a selection of live music and entertainment, food and drink, DIY crafting, film screenings, and other special offerings. Details will be posted in advance on the Gallery’s website and social media. The galleries and Wintergarden Café will remain open to the public as usual, until 8.30pm, during Thursday Lates events.
