Join us for a lecture by the director of the National Gallery of Ireland, Dr Caroline Campbell.
This talk examines an exceptional moment in Western art, and the pivotal role of Sienese artists, Duccio, Pietro and Ambrogio Lorenzetti, and Simone Martini played in defining what painting could mean. Caroline Campbell will introduce this exhibition, which she has worked on for a decade. It will open shortly at the National Gallery, London, following its showing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. She will also talk about the presence of Sienese painting in the NGI's collection.
