Care, 2021
Oil on linen | Unframed: 80 x 70 cm; Framed: 90 x 80 x 5 cm
‘This portrait is one of a series of paintings of carers I created to draw attention to the important role they play in society. Jordan Dennis, a full-time care worker in a nursing home, worked through a severe COVID-19 outbreak during the early stages of the pandemic. Many patients died and Jordan himself became very ill after contracting the virus. This portrait is my way of highlighting the mental and physical toll of working in the care industry during this time.’
