A photograph of a young woman sitting in her bedroom, surrounded by her belongings. On the wall, a number of posters and cuttings hang including a Breakfast at Tiffany's poster; on the bed itself are a few stuffed animals, and various cosmetics line the window sill.

Join us for an engaging discussion about portrait photography.

Photographers Arann McCormack and Caolán Barron will delve into their creative practices, sharing insights into their work and exploring the art of portraiture. Both artists were shortlisted for the AIB Portrait Prize 2024, and Arann McCormack's portrait I Never Promised You a Rose Garden was highly commended by the judges. Dara McElligott, curator of the exhibition, will chair the discussion.

  • The talk will take place in the Education studio and will include tea/coffee biscuits and plenty of chat!
  • The Education Studio is on level 1 of the Gallery and is fully accessible by lift from the Clare Street Entrance. It is at the same level as the Merrion Square Entrance. Toilets, accessible toilets, baby changing, and a Changing Places facility are located near the Studio and the Education Team are on-hand to support.
  • This event is part of our Tuesday Talk and Tea series, an informal discussion about an aspect of the Gallery’s collection or an exhibition. It involves a short illustrated talk followed by a discussion with the audience over a cup of tea (or coffee, of course!).
