In 2023 the Gallery acquired Rachel Ruysch’s ‘Vase of Flowers with an Ear of Corn’. It is the first painting by a woman artist to enter the Gallery’s collection of Dutch art. In this lecture, Dr Lizzie Marx, Curator of Dutch and Flemish Art, will discuss Rachel Ruysch’s long and distinguished career, her artistic and scientific sources of inspiration, and the significance of this acquisition for the Gallery.
